Buffalo Bills Player Shocks Fans By Switching Numbers
The Buffalo Bills pretty much have their 2023 roster set, heading into the regular season.
The Bills released 27 players on Tuesday, with a few players getting claimed on waivers. However, they were able to add back players like Eli Ankou (DT), Andy Isabella (WR), Ja'Marcus Ingram (CB), Ty Johnson (RB) and Greg Mancz (OL).
The Bills also made two more practice squad signings today: quarterback Shane Beuchele and linebacker Christian Kirksey. Kirksey is a longtime starter at MLB and could eventually challenge for a starting spot. Beuchele has spent the past 16 months with the Kansas City Chiefs and will likely be the scout team QB in practice.
One of the players vying for that starting linebacker spot is Tyrel Dodson and on Thursday, we found out that Dodson surprised everyone by switching jersey numbers.
Dodson has switched from number 53 to number 25. It's the number he wore at Texas A&M.
Dodson is in line to start next Monday night at the New York Jets, but second-year linebacker Terrel Bernard is back at practice as well. We will have to wait and see.
The New York Jets have Aaron Rodgers at QB now, with a host of weapons: Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook.
The Bills are about to embark on a season that has many doubters nationally, even some predicting they miss the playoffs entirely. Here in Buffalo, the expectations are still high and hopefully the Bills don't have the bad luck with injuries they had a year ago.
