3 Surprise Players Who Have Made A Massive Impact For The Buffalo Bills
Everyone knows that Josh Allen is going to be a huge factor when you're playing the Buffalo Bills. James Cook is becoming a household name to look out for, too. But the Bills signed a bunch of players this season that made a huge impact, even though a lot of people had already counted them out or hadn't ever heard of them before.
"The Bills keep signing old guys"
How many times have you heard it this year? The Buffalo Bills signed another veteran who has been in the league for what seems like what is well past their prime. They were cut from their teams, but they still think they have a lot left in their tank. They're the kinds of players that you get excited about because you've heard their names so many times, but then almost immediately come to the conclusion that they are probably way past their prime.
Buffalo Bills who have come back and contributed...again
The definition of insanity includes doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. But the Bills seem to keep doing it. How many times have you heard that the Buffalo Bills have signed Jordan Phillips back? A lot of people probably rolled their eyes when they heard that they were bringing him back for a third stint.
The thing is, they've appeared to be very helpful on this roster. They've filled gaps when players got hurt, and they've been mentors to young guys on this squad. Tre'Davious White was really meant to be a gap player, as our young first-round draft pick, Maxwell Hairston, learned the ropes in the NFL. Yet, here he was in the Bills' first-round Wild Card playoff game making huge plays (including the one that ended the game for the Bills).
Jordan Phillips has come in and been an anchor on that defensive line as Ed Oliver recovers and young Deone Walker learns what it takes to be a star. Jordan Poyer has broken bones and deformed hands because of what he's given to this team, yet he came back again to be a mentor to young Cole Bishop, who is starting to show why the Bills picked him in the second round of the draft.
I want to be crystal clear here. This article isn't being written to complain about these guys. These players have made a huge difference on this roster.
Some players have surprised us with how much of a difference they've made
How could you not have a mindset of "let's see what he's got left" after some of these players have joined the Buffalo Bills? While the names above of Jordan Phillips, Tre-Davious White, and Jordan Poyer were well known to Bills fans, some of these players have been huge wins for the Bills.
