Buffalo Bills Attempted a Trade for Quarterback
The Buffalo Bills are two weeks away from the start of the 2023 regular season opener against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football.
The Bills are wrapping up the preseason slate against the Chicago Bears on Saturday. Bills quarterback Josh Allen completed a 70-yard touchdown drive on the first possession and came out of the game. It was a much more successful start to a game than a week prior, when the Bills lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Bills might have a problem at backup quarterback.
They have Kyle Allen and Matt Barkley, with Barkley dealing with an elbow injury that kept him out of the final preseason game.
Many Bills fans are unsure of Kyle Allen as the Bills backup QB and general manager Brandon Beane is at least considering upgrading at backup QB.
According to reports, the Bills called the San Francisco 49ers about third-year quarterback Trey. Lance.
Lance was traded to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2024 fourth round pick.
Lance was originally drafted third overall by the 49ers, with the intent on having him be the heir apparent to Jimmy Garopollo.
Unfortunately for Lance, he broke his ankle and 7th round pick Brock Purdy took the team to the NFC Championship game.
Lance was demoted to a third stringer this month and the 49ers waited no time to trade the young QB. The surprising part of to a conference contender.
The 49ers traded Lance to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2024 fourth round pick, which is higher than the fifth and sixth round pick other teams reportedly offered.
Beane confirmed on WIVB they did call about Lance.
The Bills need to make an upgrade at backup quarterback. This should be no surprise but a fourth rounder is hefty price to pay.
