Here in Western New York, you know that summer is in the final home stretch when the Erie County Fair kicks off at the Hamburg Fairgrounds.

The Erie County Fair will begin tomorrow and run through August 21st in Hamburg, which is always a fun time for Buffalonians. It's something many of us look forward to every year and the weather looks phenomenal after Tuesday for the fair; not overly humid and plenty of sun, with not much rain.

The Fair will feature many of the same events and attractions we have seen for years, including the food. Funnel cakes, frozen bananas, Italian cookies, corn dogs and all the other amazing food we know and love.

There is something brand new at the Erie County Fair this year and it's a fantastic idea that is getting plenty of attention.

It was announced recently that the Erie County Fair will feature "Sensory Friendly Hours," which will take place on Tuesday, August 16th between 11 am and 2 pm.

This means that for those three hours, the fair will have rides with no flashing lights, music or microphones. Lights and PA announcements will also be toned down for those hours, to help those who find the sights and sounds of the fair overwhelming.

There will also be a Sensory Room, which offers families the chance to escape from the overwhelming sights and sounds of the fair.

The announcement was met with tons of positive reaction and 700 shares on the Erie County Fair's Facebook page.
