Obstructed View Seats Weren’t My Biggest Concern At New Highmark Stadium

Since the Blue/Red Scrimmage, Bills fans have flooded social media complaining about obstructed-view seats at the new stadium. But if I were the Bills, this would be a bigger concern to me.

We lucked out on Saturday night and ended up getting a few seats for the practice at the New Highmark Stadium. I do not own a PSL. I am not a season ticket holder (anymore). We literally just lucked our way in.

My initial reaction to the new stadium

I was very impressed. That building was absolutely incredible. They put a ton of thought into how to make it "Buffalo" and Western New York. Every single little touch brought a smile to my face. The views were amazing. I loved that even when I wasn't in my seat, I never really felt far from the action.

I don't want to mince words at all.  I loved this experience.

The biggest concern at the New Highmark Stadium

With all that being said, there was something that made us feel a little uneasy in the upper section of the stadium. The seats did feel steep, but that didn't really bother me. That seemed to give everyone a better view. What creeped me out a bit was the height of the railing around the upper bowl. I'm sure what they have to keep people from going over the edge is legally the right height, but it just felt like the railing should have been a little higher.

I know that would probably make the views even more obstructed, but it doesn't seem like it would take much for someone to lose their balance or accidentally lose their footing and go over the top of that thing.

We watched a vendor walk through with a cooler of Pepsi strapped on the front of him, and he had to squeeze between the fans and that railing. He did it, but it was actually a little nerve-wracking to watch.

A lot of people say it's like the old seats at the Aud. All I'm saying is, if you're going to sit in the upper section, don't drink a lot, stay out of fights, wear some really good footwear, or don't sit in the rows right there on the railing.
