Hills Snack Bar Returning Soon to Western New York
If you grew up in Western New York in the '70s, '80s or '90s, then you probably have a slew of former stores and restaurants that you used to visit, that are not around anymore.
Stores like Ames, Golden Circle, Sattler's and Bell's. Restaurants like The Ground Round, Perkins, Bennigan's and Swiss Chalet.
One of the most popular old stores in Buffalo was Hills, which was a department store that had a few locations in Western New York.
Hills was basically Target before Target became super popular. Hills eventually went defunct, turning into Ames here in Buffalo back in 1999, which also went defunct a few years later.
Hills was popular because of discounted retail items, along with their nostalgic snack bar. Buffalonians remember the hot dogs, nachos, sandwiches, popcorn and Icee's.
Many of us would give anything to have those memories back and believe it or not, Hills is back...at least in some form.
Over the last several months, there has been movement in bringing back the Hills snack bar. It will be a mobile Hills snack bar, which will serve the same exact treats as Hills used to sell 25+ years ago.
There's a Facebook page which has garnered popularity called Hills Snack Bar, which promises to visit all the old Hills locations in Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York. They even have all the old locations, which shows the Buffalo ones.
The people behind the movement to bring back the Hills snack bar even got the food from Gold Metal Concession, who were the manufacturers of the old Hills snack bar items.
They also have the Icee machine!
There's no timetable on when the Hills snack bar will come to Buffalo but be on the lookout for more news!
We can't wait for the return of Hills' snack back.
