New Year’s Eve Events To Attend All Around Buffalo and Western New York
I truly feel like it was just a few weeks ago when we were honoring the arrival of 2025, and now we're already celebrating its exit and the pending arrival of 2026. Even though 365 days is a fixed amount of time, it seemed to have gone by super fast this year, much faster than last year.
So much has happened in the past twelve months, several things we look back on with fond eyes and several others that we hope to never deal with again. So, whether you like it or not, New Year's Eve is here, and the people of Western New York, just like those worldwide, are looking for something fun and safe to do.
As the calendar is getting ready to flip from 2025 to 2026, if your crew is looking for something to get into as you ring in the new year, there are plenty of things for you to find to do all over the 716. And if you haven't set your plans yet, we have some information you need to know. From party and gathering locations to other stuff like road closures or traffic pattern changes, we have everything you need to know to get your party on in style while celebrating 2026 and not getting stuck in traffic simultaneously.
Road Closures For Buffalo's New Year's Ball Drop & Fireworks Celebration
New York State's second-largest city is hosting its 38th Annual New Year's Ball Drop and Fireworks Celebration in the middle of downtown Buffalo on New Year's Eve, Wednesday, December 31, 2025.
Buffalo's Roosevelt Square, right in front of the Electric Tower, is once again the home of the ball drop, and the festivities get started at 10 p.m., with the ball dropping exactly at midnight. There will be fireworks, great family activities, live music, and a variety of other exciting events.
Because things are expected to get pretty lit, several streets around downtown Buffalo will be closed on Wednesday, and the Buffalo Police recommend that you avoid trying to drive around Roosevelt Square. The following streets will be closed:
- From 1pm Wednesday to 6am Thursday:
- Chippewa Street, from Delaware Avenue and Pearl
- From 4pm Wednesday to 2am Thursday:
- East Huron Street, from Pearl and Ellicott Streets;
- Genesee Street, from Huron and Ellicott;
- Main Street, from Mohawk and Chippewa Streets;
- Washington Street, between Mohawk and Chippewa.
But the ball drop and fireworks aren't the only things happening in the 716 on New Year's Eve.
