Empire State Development has hired CJS Architects to make the market a focal point for the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood and even the entire region. The goal is to turn the Broadway Market into a year-round vibrant public market, similar to Pike’s Place in Seattle.

Empire State Development, The Buffalo Billion, and the City of Buffalo have invested several million dollars toward the project.

Some changes have already occurred.  The market now has WiFi and a police substation opened there last year.

Officials have said that the survival of the Broadway Market has to reflect Buffalo's diverse community with regard to foods, religions, and cultures.

We may also see some structural (facade) changes and hopefully expand the hours of the market as well.  Easter and Christmas mark banner crowds for the market, the goal is to make it vibrant throughout the remainder of the year.
