The Most Underrated Hot Dog Place in Western New York
We're finally at the weekend and the weather should be gorgeous most of the weekend, although Saturday will have some rain to contend with.
Next weekend is Memorial Day weekend, which is the unofficial start of summertime for most people. Many will be having three days to do whatever they wish, spending time with family and friends.
One of the most popular things to do when the weather gets warmer is to go get hot dogs and milkshakes.
There's nothing like hot dogs on a warm, summer day. It's something that brings people together, especially families who take the kids to places such as Ted's and Taffy's.
We all know about Ted's and Taffy's, which are extremely popular places in Buffalo to get hot dogs; as is Old Man River in Tonawanda.
However, if you live in Hamburg or Orchard Park, then you probably know about the most underrated hot dog place in Western New York.
It's called Red Top and is located on Big Tree Road in Hamburg. It's right where Big Tree Road meets Lake Shore Road, near Hoak's and Lucia's,
Red Top is like stepping back in time.
You order at the window and then wait for your order. There's no frills but the hot dogs are fantastic and the fries are one-of-a-kind. They kind of look like potato chips but are fries, like ribbon fries.
They also serve milkshakes and other foods, such as burgers and Italian sausage.
The views are great, since it's close to Lake Erie's shoreline. I went there for the first time back in 2021 and was blown away how great it was. Those in the north towns might not even know it exists.
