New App Will Alert You If You Were Near Someone With COVID-19

A new App created by New York State can alert you if you have been near someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to WIVB, the App was announced this morning by New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo.

If a person has downloaded the COVID Alert NY app, they will be notified if they were within six feet of someone who has tested positive for a duration of 10 minutes or more

The App is free to download and can be used with both Android and iOS systems.

The App doesn't collect any data and is used voluntary by the owner of the phone. You phone would use your Bluetooth function to connect with other phones to share COVID-19 information.
