Construction work can be different from many other jobs because workers may move between employers throughout the year. Winter can also bring changes in employment depending on the type of work being done and the projects available.
Starting January 1, 2027, certain construction, demolition, and excavation workers covered by qualifying collective bargaining agreements may be able to combine weeks worked for multiple participating employers when determining eligibility for Paid Family Leave.
"These employees will be eligible to take PFL from the covered employer immediately prior to their period of PFL if they were in employment and worked the employer's normal work week for at least 26 of the last 39 weeks with any covered employer under a collective bargaining agreement".
That could be an important change for construction workers who regularly move from one employer to another.

What Is New York Paid Family Leave?

The benefit can be used to:

- Assist with certain family matters related to a military service member’s deployment.
