
New York State Preps Massive Honors For This Team
There are some big honors in the works for one of the most beloved teams to ever play in New York State.
The 1980 Olympics were held in Lake Placid, New York and was the site of one of the greatest hockey games, and Olympic moments in the history of Team USA. Fast forward nearly 45 years and that moment is getting more attention.
The "Miracle on Ice" from the game featuring the United States against the mighty Russians could possibly be the best moment in hockey ever in Olympic history.

According to multiple reports, New York State Congresswoman Elise Stefanik is co-sponsoring a bill on Capitol Hill honoring the 1980 United States men's hockey team. The legislation is called the Miracle on Ice Congressional Gold Medal Act. If approved, team members would receive the Congressional Gold Medal for their efforts during the winter games in Lake Placid.
In her post on social media, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik stated that: "Our North Country community is proud to be home of this historic and inspiring event and as we work to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the “Miracle on Ice” this legislation honors our Olympic victors for their legendary achievement".
