NYS Bans Gatherings of 500 or More People

Per Lohud.com, NYS is banning all events and gatherings of 500 people or more. Further restrictions may be imposed on venues as well in order to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The ban will begin at 5PM on Friday, March 13th. Cuomo made the announcement Thursday afternoon, stating:

“Science dictates these decisions,” Cuomo said. “This is about science. This is about data. And let the science and let the data make the decisions."

Additionally, NYS will be placing certain restrictions on nursing homes in an attempt to prevent further spread to the elderly, who are considered especially susceptible to the virus and it's potentially lethal effects.

While the ban will be far-reaching, it do far does not include schools, hospitals and mass transit at this time.
