Police Stationed Outside Of Various Schools Across New York State
The second half of the school year is almost here and across New York State, student's safety is first and foremost. The new year has brought new challenges and school administrators and law enforcement are working hand-in-hand to tackle them.
In Rochester, police officers and security will be stationed outside of various schools. This is in response to recent events that has many in the region on edge.
Members of the Rochester City School District's Board of Education have unanimously voted to have police officers stationed outside of some schools. This move comes following an incident where students were nearly struck by gunfire at the Franklin Educational Campus last week.The cost of this increased security is expected to be about $370k.
Gun violence seems to be getting worse in parts of The Empire State. But it is not an isolated problem to New York. Other parts of the United States are trying to make changes in an effort to protect citizens. Illinois has been in the new this week after the new laws that will prevent the purchase of certain firearms.
