This is the Best Place for Spring Track, Running Needs
More than a few years ago, I ran high school track, every year from freshman to senior. I was a high jumper and ran the 800 meter hurdles, specifically.
Back in those days, I didn't know much about performance gear, so my parents just took me to whatever local general sports store was around. But now that I have several more miles and experience behind me, I can tell parents the best place to send their kids for track supplies, whether it's spikes, good running shoes, high quality socks or recovery gear, is Runner's Roost in Orchard Park.
One of the co-owners, Michelle, was my personal running coach as an adult when I was really focused on 5Ks. She helped me improve my time so much I was regularly placing in the top three in my age group in local races. So she and her staff really know their stuff.
Literally every time I walk into runners roost or send someone there, the sales staff is explaining why the shoe works for them. They are not going to sell you the most expensive shoe/socks/recovery gear, they are going to get you the right shoe/socks/recovery gear.
They'll even work with you to get gear in your school colors. Plus, all school teams get 10 percent off regular-priced items, so go ahead and pop in at 4190 N. Buffalo Road in Orchard Park. Tell them I sent you!
And, a reminder for all runners, Runner's Roost's weekly group run is now starting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday since it's staying lighter a little later. It’s really casual: Everyone meets at the store to tackle three to five miles throughout the village of Orchard Park. Runners with different pace levels are welcome, but those 16 and younger must have a parent run with them.
