OrleansHub.com is reporting that: "Peter Keppler, 71, of Medina and William Wittman, 44, of Albion were fishing on a 1994 fishing boat that is 26 feet long. They were about 5 miles offshore, said Sheriff Chris Bourke".

Lake Ontario is one of the most popular for fishing here in New York State and, like Lake Erie, draws people from all over the world for fishing! But, like many lakes here in New York State, Lake Ontario can turn nasty, quickly.

Thankfully, these two men were not harmed as a result of the incident.

Can you imagine swimming FIVE MILES in the cool water of Lake Ontario? That sounds exhausting! It is just another reminder to always be prepared and have the proper safety equipment in your boat.
