This Years NFL Draft Will Be A Big One For Jamestown Native

This year's NFL draft is just days away and this one will be a major moment in the life of Jamestown native Nick Sirianni. This will be his first NFL draft as a head coach in the league.

Sirianni was named the new head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles back in January and has spent the past couple of months forming his team. One of the biggest moves he made so far was trading away QB Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts for a 3rd round draft pick this year and a second-rounder next year.

We will find out this weekend if he can turn that 3rd into a  role player or more. Overall the Eagles have 11 draft picks heading into Thursday's NFL draft including the twelfth overall draft pick in the 1st round.

Sirianni grew up in Jamestown and played high school football at Southwestern Central High School where he graduated in 1999. He went on to play college football at Mt. Union before getting into coaching.

After a couple of years coaching in the college ranks, Sirianni made the leap to the NFL in 2009 when he joined the Kansas City Chiefs staff as offensive quality control coach.

He also spent time on the San Deigo Chargers staff and was the offensive coordinator for the Colts between 2018 and 2020.

The Eagles went 4-11-1 last season and are hoping that Sirianni can lead them back to the playoffs this year. That all starts this Thursday with the NFL Draft.

As Bills fans, it is hard to root for another team to do well, but when it is a Western New Yorker running the show, you hope he does well enough to lose to the Bills in the Superbowl!
