The location of one of the most iconic music festival could be getting the official historic title. The Woodstock Music Festival location in Bethel, New York has been nominated to the State and National Registers of Historic Places. Also, nominated is the Niagara Power Project Historic district, which has been called "a major 20th-century engineering feat" located right up the Niagara River.  They are two of 26 sites that were nominated however, both still need to be approved by New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commissioner Rose Harvey before they can be added to the State Register.

What would this mean for the area if the sites did receive historic landmark status? According to Billboard,

"Landing a place on the registers can help property owners and organizations secure preservation grants and historic rehabilitation tax credits from the state and federal governments."

We'll have to wait and see which of the 26 nominated locations end up on the list!
