Unusual, Mysterious Discovery Washed Up on Lake Erie

About 20 have been found on Lake Erie and now everyone is wondering exactly what is happening and why they are washing up on the shore over 50 years later.

Some are wondering why or how all of these old dental X-rays, some as old as the 1970s washed up on the shore of Lake Erie by Dunkirk and Fredonia. A woman named Julie Bugaj walks the shore of Lake Erie all of the time and has found washed up packets that almost look like zippo lighter cases only to find out that there are dental x-rays in them.

Dentists have to dispose of them properly because they are a biohazard waste, so many people on Facebook were coming up with theories of why they are there. Some think maybe they were dumped in there because they were in a hurry, trying to hide something, or some simply thought they could have been caught up in a flood if they were located and stored at a facility on the shore where flooding was common.

Some of them have writing on them, including a name; some of them include the word “start” and a number, along with dates that range from the 1970s to the 1990s.

 

“Some are completely full with actual, you can see the writing on there, they’re still intact in the envelope, they’re only about an inch to half inch type size, so very tiny, and some of them are kind of falling apart, they’ve seen better days. But they’ve been washing up mostly here at Cedar Beach,” Bugaj said according to WIVB.
