Bingo Nicknames – Dale’s Daily Data
One of our Battle of the Sexes questions yesterday caused Clay and I to give each other a puzzled look because we really weren’t sure what it meant. The question was what is the nickname for the number 76 when it’s called in Bingo.
The answer was trombones. OK, but I’ve gone to a lot of Bingo games at churches and fire halls and 76 has never been drawn because there are only 75 numbers in Bingo. If I had ever played Bingo in Great Britain
though I would have known they use 90 numbers when they play Bingo.
The nicknames are just a way to verify the number to the crowd in a humorous way. Some of the veteran Bingo callers have a whole long list of nicknames they use when they call the numbers. Among some of the more common ones:
