The fans certainly got their money's worth.  The Buffalo Sabres gave the effort, they got plenty of shots, but couldn't find the net until Evander Kane finally scored his first goal of the season and the Sabres first goal of the game with under five minutes to play in Wednesday night's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.  It tied the game at 1-1, setting up overtime and a shootout where the Sabres won it 2-1.

The Leafs got on the board with only a minute-30 gone in the first period and held the lead for the next 53 and a half minutes until Kane finally broke thru against Toronto goaltender Jonathan Bernier.  Then just 8 seconds later the Sabres got a power play opportunity to win it in overtime.  They came close, but the game went to overtime and then to a shootout where they won it.

Tyler Ennis and Matt Moulson scored in the shootout while goaltender Chad Johnson stopped 23 of 24 shots in the game, plus 4 of 5 shots in the shootout.

The Sabres remain home to host the Montreal Canadiens Friday night.
