You couldn't have asked for a better night.  Lafontaine, Perreault, Robert, Gare, Edwards, Playfair, May, Desjardins, Luce, Lorentz, Housley, Peca, McKegney, Audette, Korab.  It was a who's who of some of the greatest players in the 40 years of Sabres history all back in Buffalo for Fan Appreciation night.  And the Sabres gave the fans something really to appreciate.   The Sabres battled back twice to tie the Philadelphia Flyers on goals by Nathan Gerbe then beat the Flyers 4 to 3 on an overtime goal by Thomas Vanek.  And with the win the Sabres clinch a playoff spot.

And it completes an incredible journey for this team.  Just after Christmas they were the worst team in the NHL in terms of the standings, but since the arrival of Terry Pagula as owner the Sabres have been the hottest team in the league.  Still to be determined is the Sabres first-round playoff opponent but it'll all be ironed out by the end of the weekend.
