The offensively-challenged Buffalo Sabres have played five games on home ice so far this season and have won just once.  On Wednesday night at Key Bank Center, the Sabres and Ottawa Senators played to a 1-1 tie thru 60 minutes before the Sabres finally found their legs in overtime.  They dominated the extra session, outshooting the Senators 8-0, but couldn't beat goaltender Mike Condon.

Then in the shootout Sam Reinhart was the only Sabre able to score while Buffalo goaltender Robin Lehner gave up goals to both Senators shooters he faced in a 2-1 loss.  Nick Baptiste opened the scoring for Buffalo early in the first period and that was the only goal the Sabres were able to manage thru 65 minutes of play.

Williamsville native Cole Schneider, called up from Rochester and playing in just his third NHL game set up the Baptiste goal.  Schneider is tied for the points lead in the American Hockey League

Other than that there wasn't too much in the way in entertainment for the more than 17-thousand fans who turned out.  By the third period many had given up on the game and found something better to do.

Buffalo fans can only hope they see more excitement when the New Jersey Devils come to town Friday night.  But knowing the history of the Devils and the system they play it's likely a good time to take a nap.
