The Buffalo Italian Heritage Festival on Hertel Avenue is known for the the fine fragrance  of delicious Italian sausage or chicken wings permeating the air.  But as Erie County Sheriff’s Deputies looked out for our safety they found one sniff that was amiss.  This led to the arrest of a Buffalo man on marajuana charges.

Railly Betances, age 35 was taken into custody after a Deputy  at Hertel and Crestwood Avenues noticed a strong smell of the “wacky weed”.

An investigation led authorities to a car parked behind them. According to Deputies, when the door of the car was opened “a cloud of smoke emanated from the vehicle.”

Betances was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana for smoking in public view and unlawful possession of marijuana.  According to WIVB TV the man was issued a ticket to explain it to a  Buffalo City Court judge at a later date.

Guess it might not be a good idea to enter those “special” brownies in the baking competition.
