Believe it or not, there are quite a few from this state. A couple from the Western New York region!

There are even more names than mentioned here but these are just "some" of the famous country singer-songwriters from New York State.

WNY natives:

Eric Van Houten

Of course! Eric's a ToC Riser winner and is currently on a publishing deal in Nashville and should be on national radio one day!

Others like Jillian Eliza (ToC Riser winner) and Osborn Nash are making names for themselves in music city as well!

Tom Hambridge

Tom is from Buffalo and has worked with a ton of music artists in both country and non-country over the years. Some of the country artists he's worked with are Keith Anderson, Van Zant, Lee Roy Parnell, Montgomery Gentry, Pat Green, Rodney Atkins, Joe Nichols, Danny Gokey, and Joanna Smith.

Krista Marie

Krista Marie is a singer-songwriter from Batavia. She had a solo record deal on Broken Bow in the late 2000's and then was part of the trio, The Farm, who had a top 20 hit from 2012 ("Home Sweet Home"). She's now part of a duo called New North, with former The Farm member, Damien Horne.

Ruthie Collins

Ruthie is from Fredonia, NY. She has been on Curb Records the last few years and has been in Nashville for a while.

New York State:

Hal Ketchum

Hal's from Greenwhich, NY. His most successful time was in the '90s when he had six top 10 country singles, including his debut, "Small Town Saturday Night." He has charting singles until 2006. He recently retired from music after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

Eddie Rabbitt

Eddie Rabbitt is from Brooklyn, NY. Few were bigger than him in the '70s and '80s. He had 34 top 10 hits, which included "I Love a Rainy Night" and "Drivin' My Life Away." Eddie passed away in 1998 from cancer.

A.J. Masters

Masters was a singer-songwriter from Walden, NY. He charted several singles in the '80s. He has worked with and written songs for other artists such as Faith Hill, The Oak Ridge Boys, Jennifer Hanson and Steve Azar. He passed away in 2015.

Gretchen Peters

Gretchen is from Bronxville, NY. She's been a singer-songwriter in country and Americana since the '90s. Gretchen has written for other artists, including her most famous, "Independence Day" by Martina McBride.

Kristin Garner

Kristin is from Oswego, NY. She only released two singles to country radio in 2001 but she was also once upon a time a performer at the Taste of Country here in Buffalo!

Randy Montana

Randy is from Albany, NY. His dad is also a country singer-songwriter from Voorheesville, NY. Billy (his dad) co-wrote "Suds in the Bucket" by Sara Evans.

Randy charted two singles in 2010 and 2011, both made the top 40, including "1,000 Faces." He recently co-wrote "Beer Never Broke My Heart" by Luke Combs.

Thinking of anyone else? Let us know who we missed!
