You really can't question their effort.  The Buffalo Sabres were in it from start to finish in a 1-0 loss to the Dallas Stars.  They just couldn't finish off plays and that's been a problem in a number of games this season.  Stars goaltender Ben Bishop improved to 11-0-1 lifetime against the Sabres as he stopped 30 shots for the victory.

Bishop actually did allow one in the third period, but the referees wiped it out claiming the goaltender was interfered with although video showed that the Sabres Nathan Beaulieu was shoved into the goaltender.  The referees didn't agree.

As so often happens with the Sabres, a defensive mistake ended up in their net.  Zach Bogosian's clearing attempt was intercepted and Jamie Benn beat Sabres goaltender Linus Ullmark for the game's only goal.  Beyond the one goal Ullmark had a good night stopping 24 shots.

The Sabres are back home on Friday night to host the Chicago Blackhawks in the first of a 7-game homestand.
