It’s time once again for our Hometown Hero, brought to you by Batavia Downs Gaming with help from our friends at WNY Heroes who help us with our nominations every week.  This week, our Hometown Hero is from East Aurora, NY.  From our United States Navy, it’s Shane Bollers!

Shane enlisted in the United States Navy in November of 2002. After boot camp graduation, he went to Naval Submarine School in Groton, CT. After graduating third in his Sonar Technician schooling, he was stationed in Pearl Harbor, HI on the USS Los Angeles. He was the primary maintenance technician onboard until he got out in September 2005 to take care of family issues. In October 2006, he re-enlisted in the Navy, where he was then sent to Fleet Anti-Submarine warfare training center in San Diego, CA. After graduating from Sonar Technician (Surface) school and follow on journeyman schools, Bollers reported to USS Sampson, DDG-102 in San Diego, CA. While stationed there he became a certified Antiterrorism Trainer.

This week, we are honored to name Shane Bollers our Hometown Hero of the week!
