Would you be surprised to see that 8 of the world's top 10 cities to live in are right here in the U.S.?  I was, and I was even more surprised to see that one of those cities is just a short drive from Buffalo.

The study was the 13th Annual Demographia International Housing Affordability Survey: 2017.  It ranked not only the most affordable cities to live in, but also the least affordable.

The study looked at 406 cities in first world countries and found how affordable each was.  At the top of the list of the most expensive cities was Hong Kong.  It's been there at the top for the last 7 years.

The most expensive cities were:

Hong Kong, China...Sydney, Australia . . . Vancouver, British Columbia . . . Auckland, New Zealand . . . San Jose, California . . . Melbourne, Australia . . . Honolulu . . . Los Angeles . . . San Francisco . . . and Bournemouth and Dorset, England.

The most affordable cities were:

Racine, Wisconsin...Bay City, Michigan . . . Decatur, Illinois . . . Elmira, New York . . . East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania . . . Karratha, Australia . . . Lima, Ohio . . . Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada . . . Peoria, Illinois . . . and Rockford, Illinois.

Elmira is only about 2 1/2 hours away.  Congratulations to them for making the list of the world's most affordable cities!
