It was another one of those shows where one of the acts surprised a lot of people and opened some eyes.  At Wednesday night's WYRK Acoustic Show at UB's Center for the Performing Arts most of the audience knew what to expect from American Idol winner Scotty McCreery and winner of The Voice Danielle Bradbery.  Both of them delivered during a 90-minute show.

The other act on the bill was a singer-songwriter from Texas who many people were unfamiliar with but they know who he is now.  Eric Paslay has been writing songs for years and scored #1 songs with Jake Owen's "Barefoot Blue Jean Night", Eli Young Band's "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" and Love and Theft's "Angel Eyes".

On Wednesday night Eric proved he's just as proficient as a singer/musician as he is a songwriter.  A song from his "Eric Paslay" debut album "She Don't Love You" did it for me.  It's all I needed to realize this guy is the real deal.  He's paid his dues and deserves to advance to the industry's next level.

He may not be as photogenic as McCreery and Bradbery, but he created incredible emotion in that venue that at one point drew a standing ovation from not only the audience but from the others on the stage.  He left me excited about what's yet to come from a guy whose career is just starting to take off.
