When he's not on the road or in the recording studio, you can usually find George Strait on the golf course. Now, he won't have to pay those pesky greens fees when he decides to pack up his irons to take a few swings. According to The Boot, George has purchased the Tapatio Springs Golf Resort and Conference Center in Boerne, about 25 miles northwest of San Antonio, Texas.

On April 1, the deal was closed with Textron Financial Corp., which has owned the property since it was foreclosed on last June. Financial details have not yet been released.

The property features 27 holes of golf, a resort hotel, over 20,000 square feet of convention and meeting facilities, tennis, swimming and a fitness club. It was the first golf resort/conference center in the San Antonio area and opened up in 1981.

"We have begun our master plan and want the end result to be extraordinary. This may not be 'ocean front property,' says the legendary performer, recalling one of his No. 1 hits. "But it's the next best thing."

In addition to golf, King George also enjoys fishing, hunting and team roping, holding his annual Team Roping Event each March.

Heck, ya gotta fill the time between #1 cd's with something, right?
