Everybody remembers where they were when they heard about the first plane that crashed into the World Trade Centers in 2001. How they reacted, what they saw, what they thought. I've been sitting here staring at the screen starting this over and over again until it hit me. I thought 'maybe it's not what we need to do just today to remember, but all the time'.

First, Remember that we are vulnerable.

We live better and more privileged than any other country in the world, yet we often find ourselves always wanting more and complaining about things we don't have. I hope that today is a humble reflection on that day and what we have as Americans living in this country.

Second, pray for the families and friends of victims.

I know this a no-brainer, but as we remember and honor those we perished in the plane crashes, at the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania, the police officers and the firefighters, think about the ones who are without their loved ones because of that day.

Third, it only strengthened American Unity.

I came across this video and I don't ever remember seeing this before. If there was any time that this country felt 'unity' it was after September 11, 2001. Congress sang 'God Bless America' all together and instantly it didn't matter if you were republican or democrat, black or white, you forgot who you hated and thought about who you loved. It was when the bond between Americans only got stronger even as we mourned.
