Saturday was scrimmage day for high school football teams across Western New York as they prepare for the 2018 football season.

Grand Island High School hosted five other teams at its complex on Ransom Road.  Grand Island, Niagara-Wheatfield, Lockport, Sweet Home, Williamsville East and St. Francis each had an equal number of reps on both offense and defense in preparation for next week's season openers.

Clarence, Depew, Hamburg, Medina, Niagara Falls, Cardinal O'Hara and All-High Stadium in Buffalo each hosted four-team scrimmages.

Schools with new turf fields this year are Cheektowaga, North Tonawanda and Lockport.  North Tonawanda's field won't be ready for the season opening weekend.  Lockport plans to unveil their new field on October 6th.
