I'm not even sure you could call it a ride. Maybe it would be better to call it an attraction, but it's considered one of the scariest things ever to open at a theme park anywhere. It's in Denmark, and it's called the Sky Tower.

Let's just describe it: You're taken to the top of a 130-foot-tall tower, and you're hooked up into a device that dangles you over a net, then drops you. No ropes, no cords, no safety harness. It's a 100-foot free fall at a speed of 55 mph, giving you a sensation of 4Gs.

There are some stipulations: You have to be at least 14 years old and weigh between 110 and 265 pounds. They won't let you on if you have back problems, heart problems, hypertension, epilepsy, fractures or open wounds. Pregnant women and anyone who appears to be intoxicated are not allowed to jump.

Researchers have used similar devices to simulate near-death experiences.

By the way, if after you take the ride to the top and you decide that maybe the whole thing is a bad idea, you can simply enjoy the view and take the ride back down.
