The third race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship went to Jeff Gordon.  His fourth victory of the season, fifth at Dover and 92nd of his career moved him into the next round of the first elimination race in this year's new Chase format.

Kevin Harvick had the dominant car, but a broken shock on Harvick's car allowed Gordon to take the lead on lap 305.  Then after a series of green-flag pit stops, Gordon led the final 71 laps to win by more than four seconds over Brad Keselowski.

Jimmie Johnson, Joey Logano and Matt Kenseth completed the Top 5 putting them all into the Contender round of the Chase.

Also advancing were Harvick, Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Ryan Newman, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin and Kasey Kahne also advanced.

Eliminated from the Chase were Kurt Busch, Aric Almirola, A J Allmendinger and Greg Biffle.

The next elimination round begins next Sunday at Kansas Speedway.
