Buffalo-Area American Idol Finalist Seriously Injured

John Stevens, an East Amherst native who at the age of 16 reached the finals of American Idol, is recovering from a fractured skull and other injuries after being struck by a van while jogging in a Boston suburb. As a result of the fractured skull, Stevens may have also suffered permanent hearing loss in one ear.

The now 28-year-old Stevens was jogging in Chelsea, Massachusetts, and was struck while in a crosswalk. In addition to the fractured skull Stevens suffered a dislocated and broken arm in addition to cuts and bruises.

In a Facebook post Stevens wrote;

The staff at Mass General were above and beyond anything I could've asked for.  My parents have taken me back to Buffalo for a couple weeks to heal and recover from the accident since I won't be able to work.

There was no indication from police whether the driver was charged.
