On April 30th, US Border Patrol agents were able to make an arrest of a Czech citizen trying to get in to the US from Canada.

According to the report...

Police officers stated they had encountered Jindrich Koudelka, a 38-year-old Czech citizen, rescued by boaters earlier from the lower Niagara River. The boaters had spotted Koudelka in the river, clinging to a log.

The boaters took the subject to the boat ramp where they were met by Lewiston Police officers. The subject was taken by ambulance to Mount Saint Mary’s Hospital in Lewiston.

Border Patrol agents arrived at the hospital and determined that the subject did not speak English. Koudelka was interviewed with the assistance of an interpreter, stating he attempted to enter the U.S. illegally on April 30 at about 11 a.m. by attempting to swim from Canada across the Lower Niagara River near Lewiston.
