New York City is heavily considering increasing the legal age to purchase cigarettes from 18 to 21.

The new idea, though, does NOT prohibit anyone under the age of 21 from smoking or possessing cigarettes.

Research shows that if the proposal were to be approved, it would reduce the smoking rate among 18-20-year-olds by 55 percent. If the law were passed, New York City would be the biggest city in the country to have this law installed.

Honestly, this can't be a bad thing, right? What do you think?
