The nearly three week hunt for a pair of escaped killers from a maximum security New York State prison has come to an end for one of the convicts.  Richard Matt, the City of Tonawanda native, was shot and killed Friday afternoon. Early reports are that Matt shot at a driver of a camper in Malone, New York.  The driver called 911 and when police arrived shots were fired and Matt was killed.Matt was serving a life sentence for the murder of a North Tonawanda businessman.  Police are still hunting for his accomplice, David Sweat.  The two apparently stuck together after their escape from the Clinton Correctional Facility, and police think Sweat isn't far away.

Their escape from the prison June 6th was aided by at least two prison workers who face felony charges.
