Changing the clocks?  Here are five more things that you can add to your to-do list for every time we go through a time change.

Why is changing the clocks a hassle?

I've never really understood why changing the clocks is such a hassle for some people.  I mean, back in the day you used to have to look for the manual on everything just to get the instructions on how to do it, but these days, it's much easier.  Most of your devices will change the time for you.  You don't even have to remember to do it anymore.

A lot of people will tell you it's the adjustment that your body has to go through.  It's weird to wake up at a new time when your body is used to waking up earlier or later than what your clock says.

What is really a hassle is trying to remember to do all the other things that you should do twice a year or every six months or so.  Many of those things get swept under the rug and forgotten about.  But if we would do them every time the clocks have to change, it would make it all easier to check them all off at once.

Here are 5 more things you should be doing every time the clocks change:

1.  Flip your mattress - Not only will it help you sleep a little better, it will help to make your mattress last a little longer.

2. Change the batteries in your smoke detector - These are things that people often forget about because you don't think about them every day.  Change the batteries and test them to make sure they work at least every six months.

3. Change your toothbrush - Every six months.  Most people just do it when they go for a cleaning and their hygienist gives them one.  But if it's been a while since your last cleaning, you should be changing out that toothbrush at least every six months.

4. Clean your oven - Thanksgiving is coming and there is going to be a lot of food going in and out of there.  You better get ready for it now.

5. Stock up on batteries and candles - You always want to make sure you're prepared in case there's a blackout at your house.  Make sure you have plenty of batteries for a radio and candles in case the lights go out.
