When talking about crazy snow storms in Buffalo, lots of people talk about The Blizzard of '77, the October Storm, and Snowvember, but do you remember this one that dropped on the evening of January 5, 2017?

I couldn't believe it when this memory came up on my facebook feed this morning.

It was the longest drive home ever.  What normally took me a half hour to do, took over 6 hours instead.  I never thought I'd be one of those people that got stuck in traffic like that, but it was just unavoidable.

The storm came on the evening of January 5, 2017 and it made national news.  It was at the perfect time to get people stuck...during one of the busiest drive times of the day.  The snow started around 3pm and was being measured in feet...not inches, and it brought traffic to a standstill.

The problem was that snow was coming faster than they could remove it and as cars got stuck, the tow trucks and plows couldn't move them out so it created blocked lanes.

Needless to say, if you didn't go to the bathroom before you made your way out the door that night, the ride home was...a bit unpleasant.  But as Buffalo always does, we made snowcones out of a blizzard.

Were you a part of this storm?  How long did it take YOU to get home?
