The NHL has released the 2012-2013 season schedule and it features the Sabres beginning the season with three straight home games and seven of their first 10 at home.  The season and home opener is Saturday, October 13th against the Pittsburgh Penguins.  They close the season at home against the Boston Bruins.

In an effort to reduce the number of games on consecutive nights, the Sabres will play only five Friday night home games and play more games on Sundays including three afternoon start times.  The Sabres have led the league the past few years in back to back games, including 21 last year.  This year they'll play only 11.  It allows more rest time between games and the Sabres feel it's been a factor late in games on the second night.

All weekday games will start at 7:00 PM, including Friday nights.

The Tux and Pux Classic returns with a New Year's Eve game against Ottawa.

The Sabres longest road trip of the season is only four games.

The Sabres will host the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings on February 5th.

This is one of the best schedules the Sabres have had in years, so in those terms the Sabres will have no excuses.

You can access the complete schedule at the Sabres website.
