It was a night where nothing went the way of the Buffalo Sabres. The Philadelphia Flyers came out determined to end a 3-game losing streak and like so many other teams have this season they did it at the expense of the Sabres 3-2.
They've had so many poor games this season and losses they deserved, but Thursday night in New Jersey was a tough one to swallow for the Sabres. For 53 minutes they put in a solid game, especially on defense while building a 2-0 lead. Then it all fell apart when Christian Ehrhoff took a penalty. The Devils scored on the power play, then scored again with a minute left forcing overtime, then a shootout and that's where the Devils won it for a 3-2 victory.
During the mourning of Lindy Ruff’s departure in Buffalo, PETA is knocking on Terry Pegula’s door trying to convince him to get rid of something else.
For the third straight game the Sabres went to overtime, then a shootout, but for the first time this season they fell. The Rangers scored twice in shootout to beat the Sabres 3-2 in New York. The Sabres got into penalty trouble in the third period and it cost them.
For the first time this season the Sabres are on a three-game winning streak. Have they turned things around? It's way too early to tell just yet, but they looked pretty impressive against the New Jersey Devils on Saturday at First Niagara Center.
Jason Pominville scored twice and added a shoot-out goal as the Sabres won 4-3.
For only the third time this season, the Sabres have a winning streak. Yeah, ok, it’s only two games but you have to start somewhere. The Sabres closed out a two-game sweep in Florida with a 4-3 shootout win over the Florida Panthers. Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville scored in the shootout while Ryan Miller stopped both shots he faced in the shootout and 40 for the game.

I've been following this Buffalo Sabres team since its inception in 1970 and I can say without a doubt this is the lowest point in franchise history. They've already fired the long-time coach and there's been no noticeable change in the team's performance. Saturday night at First Niagara Center the boos were mixed with calls to fire the general manager. You can fire the entire front office and the entire support staff and it still wouldn't make a difference. This team is bad and its the players.
You love your team and you want to show it. A bumper sticker just won't cut it. You want something a little more permanent. How about showing some team pride with a newly designed Buffalo Sabres license plate?
The coach bids farewell and the cowboy rides away. Long-time Buffalo Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff says goodbye after being fired two days earlier, and George Strait gives his final concert in Buffalo -- on the same day! This is a way too emotional day for me. Two class acts that I've admired for years, and it's hard to let go.
Coaching didn't make a difference in the Sabres first game with a new coach. With Ron Rolston behind the Buffalo bench the Sabres made the same mistakes they've been making all season in a 3-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
