The "Star Spangled Banner", our country's national anthem. Penned by Francis Scott Key back in 1812 during the War of 1812. It's a beautiful song which has been sung by many, perfected by a few (of course, Whitney Houston) and butchered by a handful (namely, Roseanne Barr). For me, the "Star Spangled Banner" and "America The Beautiful" are the two best patriotic songs our country has. If we were ever to switch national anthems...I'd hope it would be "America The Beautiful." That finally brings me to the point of this post. Turns out Christina Aguilera isn’t the only one who has trouble remembering the lyrics to ‘The Star Spangled Banner.’

During a 9/11 tribute at the US Open on Sunday, 58-year-old pop icon Cyndi Lauper suffered a similar fate, flubbing the line that’s supposed go “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming” by instead singing “O’er the ramparts we watched, as our flag was still streaming.”

I had a chance to be at the Jam In The Valley once again this year. if you missed this years, do not miss it next year. It is one of the best ways to spend your Independence Day weekend.

I think one of the classiest parts about the whole thing is the fact that on both nights, there is a point before the headliners are on stage that the anthems for both the United States and Canada are performed. This has come up in conversation recently.

I guess it's something that happens all to often at sporting events - but people certainly notice when it happens at the Super Bowl. Christina Aguilera attempted an acapella version of the anthem this year. Her singing was ok - but she flubbed the words.

And then the crowd just tears into the person who just mangled their anthem. This little girl seemed prepared. She never missed a word....and then the mic stopped working for her. That's where the crowd came to the rescue.
