Tarzan Was A World Class Athlete

He starred as Tarzan in 12 movies between 1932 and 1948 and then 16 Jungle Jim movies after that. Today is the date in history when Johnny Wiesmuller set the then record for the 150-yard freestyle swim in 1925. Weismuller was a world class athlete who won a gold medal at the 1924 Olympics, then five more at the 1928 Olympics. In 1931, MGM cast him to play Tarzan the Ape Man and he kept himself in shape right thru the end of the series in 1948. The film series moved to TV in 1966.

Buffalo Could Host Some Future Olympic Events

It’s hard not to watch Olympic coverage on TV. The summer and winter games come only every four years so a lot of people feel they’re missing a piece of history if they don’t tune in – at least I do.

Bolt Sets New Record In Men’s 100 Meter @ Olympics! [VIDEO]

If you blinked while watching the Olympics over the weekend, you just may have missed the fastest man in the world, “Bolt” by!  That’s right, Jamaica’s Usain Bolt is again the fastest man in the 100 meter dash.  Bolt crushed his old record of 9.69 and set a new standard with a run of 9.63.  That’s lightning fast!  Yohan Blake (Jamaica) (9.75) was awarded the Silver medal and USA’s Justin Gatlin (9.79) won Bronze!  Check out the race here….

Elma’s Kaminski Wins Olympic Team Archery Silver

Elma native Eric Kaminski is an Olympic medal winner.  He and teammates Brady Ellison and Jacob Wukie settled for silver when Italy's Michele Frangilli was perfect on the final shot of the match to claim the gold for the Italians by just one point.  It was the first-ever gold medal in archery for Italy and the silver was the best finish for American archers since 1996.
