On Monday, April 8th around 3:18pm, the eclipse will pass directly over the falls and its surrounding areas for a mesmerizing 3 minutes and 45 seconds, bringing thousands of people (and NASA!) to the 716 to witness this once-in-a-lifetime event. 

Even though it’s considered a must-visit destination, we had to rack our brains to try and remember the last time Niagara Falls received so much attention in the news. Could it be when a massively popular TV show came to the area nearly fifteen years ago to film a major episode?

Remember When The Office Came To Niagara Falls?

Back in 2009, Niagara Falls was buzzing thanks to the hit NBC sitcom The Office. 

Cast and crew from the hit show were in town to film scenes for Jim and Pam’s upcoming wedding episode, and at the time, the set was very hush-hush. Insiders from the show worked overtime to keep everything a closely guarded secret, so that fans wouldn’t get any spoilers before the big episode aired. 

Thanks to Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, who played Pam Beesley and Angela Martin, we learned some fun facts and tidbits about what went down while filming in Western New York that we never knew before. 

For the past few years, Fischer and Kinsey have been sharing the inside scoop on filming The Office on their popular podcast Office Ladies. In 2022, they capitalized on the success of the podcast by releasing the book “Office BFFs: Tales of The Office from Two Best Friends Who Were There,” where they dished about behind-the-scenes antics, their fellow co-stars, and fun facts never seen or heard by fans of the iconic show.
