There is a tree in Western New York that has faced many winter storms, wind storms, road salt and road construction and has stood strong through it all. If you have been to the Erie County Fair or driven through Hamburg, you may have seen this massive tree.

We are blessed here in Western New York to have so many large trees still in place among the houses and businesses that have popped up. Unfortunately, storms like the October Surprise and major wind storms have taken a toll on some of them. The worst hit seemed to have been the large trees in the City of Buffalo that were planted hundreds of years ago.

But this tree, on Clark Street in Hamburg, has been able to weather the horrible winds. It is gorgeous in the fall as the leaves start to change and it's wonderful, long branches make it the centerpiece of the area.

This tree is just down the road from one of the most dangerous intersections in Western New York at Clark and McKinley.

The intersection of McKinley at Clark Street is one of the most dangerous in Western New York. Depending on the time of day and day of the week, it feels like you are in a game of chicken with oncoming traffic as there is no turn arrow or round about to help the flow of traffic.

A meeting took place last year to discuss the future of the intersection.

It was 7 years ago that I recorded a video showing how tricky it can be to navigate the intersection.

Fingers crossed, there will be some sort of progress on this intersection to improve the safety for pedestrians and drivers.

Just around the corner, there is a property that is currently owned by the New York State Thruway that is still for sale. This on on Camp Road near the Thruway exit.
