Toby Keith Receives The Spirit Of The USO Award

The troops turned the tables on Toby Keith last night (Monday 4/7) at the taping of the "ACM Presents: An All-Star Salute to the Troops” in Las Vegas.

Toby performed during the 3-hour show and sang the final song of the night, his own “American Soldier”, and afterward, he turned to shake and thank the troops standing on the side of stage...and instead was surprised to receive the Spirit Of The USO award.

Keith has played more than 200 shows for military men and woman over the last several years and is so very much deserving of this honor. The ACM special will air on May 20 on CBS.

That caught me off guard,” the singer said. “I saw a need and a void the great Bob Hope left behind, and no one was filling it, but as hard as Big Dog Daddy tried, I couldn’t bring Marilyn Monroe."
