Residents along West River Parkway on Grand Island want to know the reason for the installation of three new cameras near their homes.  They weren't told about them and some want to know if they're part of some kind of surveillance system.

Turns out they were installed by the State Parks Department as part of a study to determine how much traffic passes by.  West River Parkway has been designated as a possible route for a controversial eight-mile bike path that would eliminate vehicular traffic.

Residents are split on whether or not the plan is a good idea. If West River Parkway was closed, residents say it would increase traffic on the more populated West River Road.

The State Parks Department says the cameras will be taken down after this weekend.
