Will A Robot Carry The Olympic Torch At The 2012 Games?

This seems way out of place to me, a computer scientist has nominated a robot to be part of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay.  What?  This is crazy, people around the world wait in anticipation for the torch runners to enter the arena and light the cauldron.  The symbolic lighting of the flame marks the beginning of an historic Olympic Games.  I suppose for some it could be exciting to watch a robot carry the torch but I think it’s strange to have a mechanical being carry this coveted flame that symbolizes human strength and endurance.  What do you think?
