The fate of Studio Arena Theater has been in question for some time; will it come back to life after a court-mandated foreclosure sale?  The auction is set to take place on Tuesday May 8th at the Erie County Hall foreclosure alcove.  According to Buffalo Business First, 710 Main Street Inc. will bid on the property as a venue for both national and local productions. 710 Main Street Inc. is affiliated with Shea’s.  Studio Arena closed four years ago after suffering huge losses.  I guess only time will tell if the arena will be given new life after the auction.  If the bid is accepted, Shea’s staff would oversee and run the arena.

I remember seeing the musical based on Johnny Cash’s life ‘Ring Of Fire’ at Studio Arena, that had to have been almost nine or ten years ago and at the time there was so much promise for the theater.  I hope a deal can be reached that benefits the parties involved and the city to help breath more life in to the theater district.
